Swim suits for your body shapes

I can't believe Summer is here already! Time flies so much that it is unbelievable. So whether you have a holiday coming up or planning to go to a beach on a weekend trip, here is a guide to swim wear and body shapes. We are all born in different shapes and sizes and being different is what makes us beautiful. This year, embrace what you are given and make the best out of them by choosing swimwear that will complement our body shapes. These are the basic body shapes:

Pear Shaped

Your shoulders and bust would be narrower than your hips. You will find most of your weight situates around your hips, thighs and bum as fat is stored below the waistline. Your waist would be defined.

Celebrity Example: Jennifer Love Hewitt

Swimwear suggestion

The aim of the swimwear would be to create an illusion to slim down the lower half of your body while adding more illusion of curves for your upper half.

Opt for high cut bikini bottoms (ones you can tie on the sides) as this will create an illusion of longer and leaner looking legs. You can even choose a darker colour choice for your bottoms to slim down the bum area. For your upper half, choosing brighter colours will bring attention to your upper body balancing your proportion instantly. You can even wear stripes (horizontal) to give a wider bust illusion. Frills can also add curves

Frills, bold prints will bring attention to your upper half of your body evening out your body proportions

A padded plunging bikini can make your cup size increase one or two sizes bigger.

Apple Shaped

Most of your weight is carried on your tummy yet your legs remains slim. Your upperbody, shoulders and tummy should be where your fat is stored. You would have a top heavy appearance.

Celebrity Examples: Catherine Zeta Jones & Liz Hurley

You should take this opportunity to flaunt your slender legs! Make them appear even longer than they are by wearing bikini bottoms that are high waisted (stringed bikinis elongate legs). Tankinis are perfect as they will cover up your tummy and by choosing a darker colour, pounds will be reduced instantly. You can even choose one that is vertically or V shaped to give a slimming effect (also conceals lumps).

Tankini can is fitted so it creates curves. Prints will conceal bumps. Your upper body may be covered nicely but your legs will be the centre attraction.

Fitted on the waist but loose downwards. Its a piece that emphasizes your legs.

Hour Glass Shaped

Hourglass figures tend to have a more defined waist while the chest and hips are similar ratios. To be frank, most swimwear will flatter your body shape. It can be swimsuit, bikini or tankini; whatever!

Celebrity example: Kelly Brooke

Swimwear suggestion

You would want to emphasize that killer waist you have by wearing bikinis that are one colour or matching to remain the perfect proportions of your body. Triangular Drawstrings will emphasize your curves even more.

Exotic prints will key attention to your good assets. Draw strings will emphasize your curves. You can wear most types of swimwear to be honest. Lucky you!

Atheletic (Triangular/Rectangular) Shaped

You will find that your shoulders and bust will be probably be wider than your hips or your body may be pretty straight from shoulders all the way down to your hips. Your frame is athetic and you are slender in most parts.

Celebrity example: Hilary Duff

Swimwear suggestion

You can add curves to your frame by choosing swimwear with bold colours. Halter necks can enhance cleavage and especially teamed with frills. You can get away with wearing hipster shorts which will also add curves and give you more shape around your bum area. You can try padded bikini tops (triangle shaped tops) and this will add more curves to your body.

These one piece suits are fantastic for creating curves. The way these swimsuits are cut adds instant curves to your frame. You can even wear sporty high waisted bikinis because you will get away with it thanks to your sporty frame.

Frilly bikinis attention to your hips and torso. Again, adding more curves to your lower half.

Experiment with fun colours and prints. Added haltered necks with padded cups can also give you more curves.
